CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Dogwood, mountain laurel and other roadside wildflowers are showcased in a calendar offered by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
Photographers from across the state submitted photos for the "Operation Wildflower 2016 Roadsides in Bloom" calendar in a contest co-sponsored by the DEP and the Division of Highways.
The DEP says in a news release that Patty Barker submitted the photo chosen for the cover, which shows white heath aster along Route 200 in Mineral County.
The calendar is free to West Virginia residents. Orders can be submitted online at the DEP's website, www.dep.wv.gov .
