The nomination deadline is approaching for the 2015-2016 Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards Program.
The program is the longest-running privately sponsored teacher recognition program in the state. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 4, 2016.
Each nominated teacher will be required to complete a rigorous application focusing on the teaching profession and their personal teaching philosophy, as well as their professional development and educational achievements. An independent, blue-ribbon panel of past recipients then judges the applications and selects the 10 winners who will each receive a $3.500 personal cash award, a trophy and a plaque from the Arch Coal Foundation.
The Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards is in its 27th year in the state. The program is supported by the West Virginia Department of Education, the West Virginia Education Association and the West Virginia Library Commission.
More information about all of the foundation's education support programs is posted online at archcoal.com/community/education.
