Health education series

Lynn Eldridge, MSW, LICSW, will present "Tips to Help You Deal with the Holiday Anxieties," from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today in Room 105 at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy. The program is one of the First-Class Health Education: 101 series of workshops hosted by Advance Healthcare @UC. The program is free and open to the public, however, seating is limited and reservations are requested by calling 304-348-1417.

ACA health insurance sessions

State residents interested in free, in-person help in learning how they might enroll or re-enroll in health insurance under the provisions of the Affordable Care Act can attend one of two information and enrollment sessions. The first will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Charleston Town Center, Bureau of Senior Services Offices, located on the third floor across from the food court. The second will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Putnam County Main Library at 4219 W.Va. 34, in Hurricane. WV NaviCare, the Bureau of Senior Services and the Appalachian Area Agency on Aging, working under a cooperative agreement with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will provide information. Those with current Marketplace coverage should pick a new plan or re-enroll in their existing plan by Dec. 15 to prevent a lapse in coverage. More information is available at www.wvnavicare.com.

GSDC meeting

The Greater Sissonville Development Council will meet at 5 p.m. today in the Sissonville Library. This meeting will be a continuation of the mission and vision of the Greater Sissonville Development Council. All board members and the community are encouraged to attend.

Scam presentation

Kanawha Valley Senior Services will offer a scam presentation for seniors by Andrea Lannom, with the West Virginia Attorney General's Office, at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Tiskelwah Center, 600 Florida St. Lannom will provide important information for senior citizens. There will also be a Christmas-themed demonstration of the Healthy Steps Lebed Method by class participants.

Benefit fair

Piedmont Elementary School will host a Benefit Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the school gymnasium, 203 Bradford St. Enter on Quarrier Street. Proceeds will support Jill Woodrum, Director of PRO-Kids after school program, and her family who lost their home in a fire. Some vendors include Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Beauticontrol, Paparazzi, Younique, Hair Bows, Origami Owl, ItWorks!, Scentsy and more. A gift basket raffle will be held.
