Pancake breakfast
The Cub Scouts Pack 68 will sponsor a Santa Pancake Breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cross Lanes United Methodist Church. The cost is $5 per person for breakfast and $5 for pictures with Santa. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and a variety of drinks. There will also be crafts for the kids. Proceeds benefit the organization.
Candidate training
A wide range of statewide organizations are coming together to host day-long, nonpartisan candidate trainings for citizens who want to run for office. The next session is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. The training will include interactive sessions on Stump Speech and Communications, Asking for Money and Getting Ready to Run. This is the third of four training sessions. Republican women
The Kanawha County Republican Women will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Charleston Civic Center. Visitors are welcome. Bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to the CHAS toy drive. There will be a buffet available and parking is free.
Concert choir
The University of Charleston Concert Choir and University Singers will present "What Sweeter Music" at 4 p.m. Sunday at the University of Charleston's Erma Byrd Art Gallery in Riggleman Hall. The 20th annual Holiday Gala concert will feature traditional carols, spirituals and well-known holiday music, as well as opportunities for the audience to sing along. Included will be a "Reflection" by UC President Edwin Welch. The program is free to the community.
Cozy Christmas campfire
The Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District is hosting a free outdoor Christmas event at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Ritter Park's Gobbler's Knob, following the Holiday Candlelight House Tour in Huntington. A Cozy Christmas by the Campfire will feature roasted marshmallows, drinking hot cocoa and singing Christmas carols with members of The Arts Resources for the Tri-State Company and the H.A.R.T. Choose Joy Players. There will be crafts for the kids and a special jolly visitor.

The Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at 1525 Washington St. W.
