Kanawha County Parks and Recreation announces that the annual Lights of Coonskin will be on display nightly from 5:30 to 10 p.m. now through Dec. 31 at Coonskin Park, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The light displays will have a whole new feel this year with the opening of the bridge and entrance off of U.S. 119. To get to Coonskin Park, take Interstate 79 to Exit 1, Mink Shoals, and take U.S. 119 North. The park is approximately one mile from the interstate. The Lights of Coonskin will start at the Columbia Gas Shelter and continue through the park's "old" entrance, where there will be a turnaround.

There are more than a million lights and 150 light displays. Donations are encouraged and a portion of the proceeds go to the volunteer civic groups at the front gate. The rest of the proceeds go toward enhancing the Lights of Coonskin.
