A water main leak on McFarland Street in Charleston was expected to be repaired by Saturday morning, a West Virginia American Water spokeswoman said Friday evening.

Water from the leak, which started Thursday, pooled outside the Charleston Newspapers building on Virgina Street all day Friday.

Laura Jordan, West Virginia American Water external affairs manager, said work crews were making repairs at another site Friday evening but planned to fix the leak by Saturday morning.

Jordan said the leak appeared worse Friday, though the water company isn't yet sure what caused it. She said crews will determine the leak's cause when they make repairs Friday night.
