Open house
Concord University is celebrating the season with the annual Holiday Open House at University Point from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1. Guests will be treated to an evening of holiday music, refreshments and fun. The community is invited to the free event. Concord University student vocalists and musicians are providing entertainment. Santa Claus will be in the Erickson Alumni Lounge. Children of all ages will enjoy decorating cookies in the Seminar Room. Holiday wassail and hors d'oeuvres are also on the menu. Reindog parade
The Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its annual Reindog Parade from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 5 at the Valley Park Community Center by the Wave Pool. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Santa may be there, so bring a camera just in case. Registration fee is $10. For information or to register early, call 304-562-0518, ext. 101.
Trail club hike
Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at Chief Logan Festival of Lights. Carpool from the parking lot at the corner of Ohio and Randolph across from post office. The hike is 4 miles on moderate trails past lighted Christmas displays.
Dinner theater
A Christmas dinner theater featuring Mick Souter as Stephen Foster will be performed from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 18 from at Audrey's Restaurant in Buckhannon. Tickets are $25 each and include dinner. The menu features a choice of baked steak or baked ham with all the fixings. Tickets are available at Buckhannon City Hall and this is a fundraiser for future Buckhannon Christmas activities.
