FAIRMONT, W.Va. - An insurance company's charitable foundation has donated $1 million for scholarships at Fairmont State University.
Greg Burton, CEO of BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company, presented the gift to university President Maria Rose and Fairmont State Foundation President RJ Gimbl on Thursday.
The gift will be used to endow scholars in honor of H. Skip Tarasuk Jr., who graduated from Fairmont State in 1971 and works for the insurance company in Charleston as a special projects consultant. He was BrickStreet's first board chairman from 2006 to 2009.
