West Virginia University students today can donate a meal from their dining plans to a local charity.
Called the Share A Swipe Program, the initiative is a partnership between university dining services, student government and the Food Recovery Network. It gives students an opportunity to gift unused meals, which will be prepared and delivered to charities in Morgantown that feed the hungry and homeless.
Each donated meal will be prepared by university dining and delivered to a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter by student volunteers. According to university dining services, meals will be sent to The Bartlett House, the Rosenbaum House and the Salvation Army in Morgantown.
Students can donate meals by swiping their dining cards at either the Brew 'n Gold Cafe on the Evansdale campus or the Summit Grab 'n Go on the downtown campus.
The Food Recovery Network is a national student organization against food waste and hunger in America.
